PERSPECTVES AT FLICKERFEST 2023

1/26/2023

Courtney was thrilled to attend the opening night of Flickerfest 2023., this past Friday night, on Bondi Beach, Sydney. Flickerfest is Australia's Academy Awards  and BAFTA qualifying festival, and it was an honour to attend with Neer Shelter, on behalf of the Perspectives  team. Neer's work is powerful, moving, and truly exceptional - it was a privilege to be involved in this project.

Perspectives was filmed in Israel, and post-production was completed in Sydney. Neer wrote and directed the film, and it was produced by industry heavyweights Kristen Hodges, and Ran Pasternak.

Synopsis:

Set in Israel, a soldier on a bus is disturbed by the actions of another passenger. She needs to decide how to react to a potential suicide bomber while the event is streamed live. Filmed in Israel and the Palestinian territories it features Joy Rieger, an acclaimed Israeli actress who won Best Actress at the Tribeca Film Festival for her film Vierges (2018).

Choreographed and directed by Jordy Sunderland, the team is made up of dancers and athletes, and worked hard to create a competitive routine, and make a mark on the national scene.

"Asylum seekers who come by boat without a visa are denied settlement in Australia. They are taken to Manus Island in Papua New Guinea, where they face mandatory detention. They often face shortages of food and water, inadequate medical attention and high rates of mental illness. We are filming one person for every man detained on Manus Island." - director Benita de Wit.
